Swaha Yoga Studio and Wellness Center

I have been doing yoga on a regular basis now for about 2 1/2 years. I have taken yoga classes sporadically over the years and even delved into hot yoga for a short time, but as with anything health related, you realize the benefits when it becomes a regular part of your life. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been attending classes, mostly, at the gym I belong to here in Raleigh N.C. Yoga is just a portion of my exercise regime these days, but it has become an important part of my overall wellness plan. There are many different forms of yoga, all impart different benefits, be it relaxation, strength, balance, or just connecting to one’s breath. Taking yoga classes at the gym has been convenient, but coming in behind a chisel class, where every one sweats all over the floor…. well some of the zen is lost. And then there is the music and noise in the rest of the gym…. Lady Gaga does not inspire connection with the breath, at least not in yogic terms. But now I can let the sweaty noisy gym be the forum for my weight training and zumba classes. My yoga will now be done at SWAHA YOGA AND WELLNESS. When I practiced yoga on Monday I was able to look out the window and watch the clouds slowly drift by. They inspired me to open my heart a little wider, to twist a little deeper and to connect with my breath a little more. There was only gentle inspiring music and the sound of my instructor’s voice encouraging me to let go. The most memorable yoga I have done has been outside, but that is not always available or practical, Swaha’s open windows and zen like atmosphere comes a close second. Do your yoga wherever is available to you, but if you are lucky enough to live in the Raleigh area come by Swaha, take a class, schedule a massage, schedule a time to meet with a Health coach or just come by and say hi.
